The Heartbeat of Education in Remote Areas in Indonesia  

            Education is an important thing for every people, not only for increasing their knowledge but also for their job in the future. It can be said that education is demand thing for all people because they have to follow the developing world which always become more modern every time. Of course Indonesia should be equal with it by preparing young generation with all things in school to face globalization era. Indonesia itself is one of big country which consists of more than eighty thousand islands and not all of islands have society. Sometimes, in some islands which have society are not developed yet as well as other modern islands, for example is in deep place in Borneo. They have difference things because of the location district with modern place; one of it is about their education. The location itself could give effect for the education there.

            This article will discussed more about education in one of place in Central Borneo by interviewing one of the educators there. Her name is Mamik Yulianti who is a teacher in Elementary school there. She is teaching in Bahasa Indonesia’s course. With her husband, she subjugates herself to be teacher there. she also has two sons who is also take a study there.

What is your role in education?

“My role in education is as a teacher in Bahasa Indonesia course. Besides that, I also become a guidance and educator for my students.”

Is your role giving big impact for education?

“Yes it is. Because teacher is a job to make students become better person on their attitude and their knowledge also. Without teacher and educator, a figuration of young generation will not form well.”

Is there any factor which can hamper your job as person who is influential to education?

“Yes, there is a factor that can hamper my job as signal.”

Why?

“Because signal is a connection which give impact to teacher to get something new information in the form of online source, especially for teacher who work in outlying place and there is no connection. Teacher should go out from that place to find internet connection and get online information. Teacher will get difficulties for getting online information if teacher just stay there.”

What is your opinion about education in Indonesia?

“Education in Indonesia still has big minus especially in students’ character because it is formed in family and social life. So, if they have already commune with environment which higher than family they will get good environment and bad environment. If family, school, and society cannot monitor them, they will get higher negative environment than positive environment.”

In your opinion, what is a good system in education?

“In my opinion, a good system in education is a system which is appropriate to students’ need and appropriate to education system by educational minister.”

Are every school in Indonesia have already get the same equal right in education?

“ I think around 70% school have got same equal right but sometimes there are school which have not get same equal right in the form of online source and related to Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi course. School which in outlying place will get difficulties to reach it whereas we as teacher should related it in teaching activity because now we are live in modern era. If we don’t relate it, of course we will left behind modernization.”

In your opinion, how the students response their education?

“In my opinion about students response is they have various responses. There are students which come to school very enthusiastic and there are students which have less enthusiastic also, but it back to the teacher. It is depend on the way of teacher teach them. If the teacher uses right method and interesting material, the students will feel enthusiastic. Here, for the students itself they are really enthusiastic in conducting learning activity.”

Are the students’ enthusiastic give big influences for education system?

“Of course. If we teach and students give enthusiastic response; the learning activity will success, and reach the goal of learning activity. In contrast, if they give adversative response, teacher will not reach goal of teaching.”

What is your wish to make education in Indonesia being better?

“I wish education in Indonesia will be better that before by combining role of family, teacher, and society in educating their character, attitude, and social intercourse. If those things have already formed, teacher will get easy of forming students become better personal. So, family, teacher, and social environment have to help each other.”

So, by seeing result of interviewing, hopefully minister will give more attention to school in outlying place because students have amaze response for their learning. They want to change their life to be better, to be smart and to be having good attitude. That is one part of the heartbeat of education in Indonesia.  Without the heartbeat, education in Indonesia will not flow to center of aim of education. It will make developing of Indonesia to be equaled with fabulous countries become left behind other countries.
